Mr. Edward Goad

Welcome to St. Catherine of Siena School. It is a privilege to join this vibrant, faith-filled community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your principal. St. Catherine of Siena has long been known for its strong Catholic identity, its commitment to academic excellence, and its dedication to forming young people in faith, character, and service. I am honored to continue that mission with you.

My vocation to Catholic education has been shaped by faith, family, and the communities that have supported me throughout my life. From my earliest years at St. Joseph Church in Shelton—where weekly Mass, breakfast at the diner, and family traditions helped form the foundation of my faith—I felt called to serve in environments where faith and learning are inseparable. That call has guided my entire career.

Over the years, God has placed mentors, colleagues, and experiences along my path that helped me grow into the leader I am today. Their example taught me that Catholic education is not simply a profession, but a ministry rooted in presence, compassion, and a deep love for students and families. Those values have shaped my leadership at every stage.

I have been blessed to serve in Catholic schools for more than two decades, including fifteen years at St. Bernadette School in New Haven and seven years as principal of St. John Paul the Great Academy in Torrington. In each community, I witnessed firsthand how faith, partnership, and mission-driven leadership allow students to flourish academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

My leadership is grounded in several core beliefs that guide my work each day:
• Faith-centered formation should shape every decision we make.
• Families as partners are essential to a child’s growth and success.
• Empowered teachers create joyful, thriving classrooms.
• Whole-child education forms confident, compassionate disciples.
• Community engagement strengthens identity and mission.
• Stability and continuity allow schools to grow and flourish.

I hold a Master of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University, a Catholic School Leadership Certification from Creighton University, and an Entrepreneurial Leadership Certificate from Fordham University’s Center for Catholic School Leadership. My professional experience includes NEASC leadership, faculty development, curriculum planning, grant writing, and stewardship of school culture and mission.

As I begin my ministry at St. Catherine of Siena School, I look forward to partnering with our dedicated faculty and staff, walking with our students as they grow in faith and knowledge, and building strong relationships with families and parish leadership. Together, we will continue to nurture a school community where every child is known, loved, and supported—and where Christ remains at the center
of all we do.
