Saint Catherine of Siena students are actively involved in many service projects. Supporting our local needs is important and students regularly participate in community events such as the parish Back to School drive, Thanksgiving food drive, and the Giving Tree at Christmas time. During Lent, all students participate in Operation Rice Bowl to provide financial support to Catholic Relief Service
A holiday tradition for SCSS for over 25 years is to donate decorates themed Christmas trees which line the hallways at the New Haven Maritime Center. These trees help to raise money for The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut for their Trees of Hope Auction. The array of trees is breathtaking! It is a tradition that our students take pride in doing.
Our SCSS Cares Service Team has participated in various service projects. The children have made blankets for the Binky Patrol who supplies these blankets to infants and children in area hospitals. They have also made dog and cat toys for various animal shelters, and have served meals at the Spooner house in Shelton.
Through dress casual days, the students raise money for various local charities such as breast cancer awareness, the heart association, and the local town food pantry.
Living their faith through service to others is important to SCSS students, and they share their gifts and talents willingly.
