Saint Catherine of Siena students are actively involved in many service projects. Supporting the needs of our community is essential, and students regularly participate in events such as our Parish Outreach Program such as the back-to-school drive, the Thanksgiving food drive, the Christmas Giving Tree, and other local events.
A holiday tradition for SCSS for almost 30 years is to decorate and donate Christmas trees with various themes, which line the New Haven Maritime Center hallways. These trees help raise money for The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut for their Trees of Hope Auction. The array of trees is breathtaking! It is a tradition that our students take pride in doing.
Our SCSS Cares Service Team has participated in various service projects. The children have made blankets for the Binky Patrol, which supplies these blankets to infants and children in area hospitals. They have also made dog and cat toys for various animal shelters and have served meals at the Spooner House in Shelton.
The students raise money for various local charities such as breast cancer awareness, Wreaths Across America, Autism Awareness, American Heart Association, and local food pantries through casual dress days.
Living their faith through service to others is vital to SCSS students, and they willingly share their gifts and talents.
