Athletics and Diocesan League Policy
The Saint Catherine of Siena Athletic Program is a school-based program that exists to ensure that the students in our school have access to Christian–based competitive athletics. Boys and girls in grades four through eight are invited to participate in basketball. The leadership of the athletic program is comprised of dedicated parent volunteers. Their leadership guides the students not only in athletic skill development but in the development of good sportsmanship, leadership, and team play. Our student athletes are taught respect for their coaches and fellow athletes, the importance of cooperation, and to win and lose with grace.
Student athletes are held to academic and conduct requirements. In order to play on a school team, students may receive no grade below a C- on a report card. All homework must be completed in a timely manner; outstanding assignments will move an athlete to ‘ineligible’ status. All conduct and effort marks must be 1’s, 2’s, or 3’s. The final decision on an athlete’s eligibility rests with the Principal and the Athletic Director.
A Diocesan team can play in no more than two leagues and participate in no more than three invitational tournaments, excluding league playoffs, Diocesan, and New England tournaments. However, if a team only plays in one league, it may enter a total of four invitational tournaments.
The Game Schedules are listed in the links below. Please check with your coach for any changes to the listed times. These games do NOT include any tournaments.
**St. Ann's league snow day on October 29, 2011 will be made up on January 29, 2012.
